Got GPS?

This page is dedicated to Geocaching trips  that we take.   Since starting we try to  do at least 3 a weekend.  It is a great way to get away from most all the electronics. Get fresh air, use your head, exercise and enjoy nature.  So are a quick find less the 10 min some are harder and some you have to go back and try and try again.

Well for you all that don't know what Geocaching?  See first picture  and its not all tupperware we do have ammo cans, bison tubes, micro and nano ones.   So what is is it a great big hide and seek game...Cachers  hide containers all over  (with permission of landowners)  in the larger ones  (not micro or nano)  they have a log book and swags.

Other cachers use  coordinates given by the hider with a gps  to find the cache.

Swags are items that other cachers get when they find the box and they put swags in to replace what they took.

They also can contain  Travel bugs, coin, tags.. ect
This are cool as they are trying to get somewhere.  If you pick one up  you go home log it on to the site listed on the back and then you need to put it in another cache in the direction its going.  This are owned... they are not to keep!

Now the micro and nano ones.... Nano are smaller then a quarter.  Micro is  like a pill bottle or film canister This are bring your own pen too! They also have   multi step, puzzle, picto  and more that you have to figure out.
Here are a few pictures of containers that are hidden.....

Now with that said  you can go to  Geocaching.com  to find out more!  This was just a brief intro.  One last thing is  we always pick up trash  to and from the caches  so we are helping nature out as well!

Ok now for the pictures during our  Geo-caching outings they are not in order as I don't want to give away any clues/ spoilers.

So our Geocaching team is

 2 crazy parents
and Kiddo

they can be hidden any where.... by graveyards, in the woods, in town, and in the water  just  a few.
This cache took us to the Swap Fox grave!  Francis Marion  fun when history  is tied in.

Swamp

who said geocaching was easy and who would call this a trail?   I call it a mud slide from #$@$.  Doing the splits and trying not to break my camera  while coming down and 5 feet from then end of the slide is the swamp above.  Never again are we doing this one thank goodness we found it!

 Don't forget whats lurking around

heading to the last cache of the day

This was a neat little stream that we had to cross  we picked up a lot of trash here  and kiddo and hubby almost fell in as they were trying to reach a can in the middle of it.   I love the little winding trail in it

:::::::::::::::::: Meet our newest members to our geocaching family ::::::::::::::::::

 From left to right

Whiskers the squirrel was recently evicted from his home in Missouri by his cranky landlord. With only his acorn and his flag he set out on his own to find a new place to live.  He wants to be sure that he chooses just the right place, so he has set out to visit all 50 states, and maybe even some foreign countries, ( he's heard they have squirrels too) in order to find just the right spot.

"Wrongway" the monkey pirate travels the world in search of fun and adventure.  Unfortunately he left home without learning to use his new GPS receiver so he is always lost.   He doesn't have a destination in mind, so just pick a direction and let your GPS be your guide.

Bounce the cricket wants to travel all the way around the world, touring every continent along the way (except Antarctica, its too cold for crickets down there however she will travel there if she can find her way back to warmer weather quickly.)

I will be starting a new page for them as soon as we get them placed in a cache   For those who dont know what  a travel bug is  the flag, gps, and the tag under the bug  all have a code on them where when a person finds it they log onto a website and enter the code and they can log them and show if they took it to another cache or just discovered it.
